It is not uncommon at all for resorts to offer a variety of discounts to their clients. For instance, some resorts will offer a "kids stay free" discount. However, there are other things that you can get at a discount if you ask. For instance, you may be able to get a second room for half the rate. You may also be able to get discounted tickets for area theme parks.
